It’s easy for Illinois residents to discover if they have assets waiting for them. The Illinois State Treasurer’s website provides individuals with appropriate tools so they can invest in themselves, and encourages savings plans for college and trade school, increasing financial education among all ages, removing barriers to a secure retirement, and protecting residents from predatory companies. The law that created the unclaimed property program was established in the early 1960’s as a consumer protection initiative. One in four Illinois residents has an asset to be claimed in I-Cash, from stocks and CDs, to safe deposit boxes and valuables. Through the I-Cash program, the Illinois State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division connects state residents with their unclaimed property. Kendall County Board Chairman Scott Gryder wishes to make Kendall County residents aware of the Illinois State Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Program I-Cash.
